A 24-year-old cornerback, recently drafted by the Minnesota Vikings, tragically died in a car accident early Saturday morning, along with his high school teammate, Hazel. Both were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third passenger, Anthony Lytton Jr., was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
Just hours before the accident, the young athlete had posted a series of photos on Instagram, showcasing moments from Vikings practice, with the simple caption, “Mmmhmmm.”
The Vikings organization issued a statement expressing their profound grief: “The loss of our player in this overnight car accident is heartbreaking. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, teammates, and coaches, as well as the families of everyone involved in this tragic event.”
At approximately 3 a.m., the group was traveling in a Dodge Charger when it was struck by a speeding Infiniti. The Charger veered off the road, colliding with tree stumps, while the Infiniti struck another vehicle. Thankfully, no one in the other cars was injured, and no charges have been filed at this time.
Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell reflected on the player’s impact, saying, “His energy and spirit resonated with everyone in our team. His confidence and personality made him a natural fit in our building and on the field.”
